Poésie Géologique is an experimental ceramic work made from wild clay collected directly from the artist’s garden, together with other materials found within the earth, including slate and iron.

Working with materials gathered from the immediate natural environment is a return to the elemental, to matter in its most direct and tangible form. Clay, stone and iron carry the traces of geological time and are shaped by forces that precede us and exist beyond human control.

For the artist, this return to the earth has become an essential counterpoint to decades of working as a designer in a predominantly digital world. Where images and representations can increasingly blur the distinction between what is real and what is constructed, Poésie Géologique turns towards something that cannot be simulated: physical matter, weight, texture and the immutable laws of nature.

The work is an exploration of material presence, a quiet reminder of what is real, tangible and grounded in the earth.

The artwork is an original, unique and handmade ceramic sculpture, created in 2025 by the artist. The piece is delivered with a certificate of authenticity.

Minor cracks and surface irregularities may be present as a natural result of the making and firing process. These are part of the character of the work and are not considered damage.
